Bedford Cadets Make a Splash

While the rest of England spent the weekend soaking up the hot weather, 5 Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron took to the water on the Cardington Artificial Slalom Course.

Racing down the rapids, battling the currents and the odd capsize were all part of the day on the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing Annual taster day for Cadets Holley Lennox (13), Ben Mann (14), George Livingstone (14), Lewis Holley (14) and Rhys Barton (13).

With various obstacles built into the course, the cadets were given the chance to test their skills with everyone successfully negotiating the rapids, although some did get wetter than others! Perfect weather and a mix of single and double kayaks meant a very enjoyable day for cadets and staff alike.

Cadet Barton said, “I found the day really fun and exciting. This was the first time I have done this activity and the rapids made it more interesting. I can’t wait to take part in more of these events”
