Radio Communicators Badge

Cadets Lauren Fletcher (14), Marti Foy (18), Levi Jack (14), Will Nicholls (15) and Joshua Purcell (16) gained the prestigious Air Cadet Communicators Badge. The course required completing 6 of 11 available modules, two of which are compulsory. Training commenced over dedicated weekends and cadets are proficient in the use of Private Mobile Radio, Very High Frequency and Ultra High Frequency. History and theoretical studies of the use of Radio and Radar since their conception were also undertaken along with analysing multiple Atlantic and North American Air Traffic Control High Frequency transmissions.

The Squadron is also very fortunate to have been awarded a local Grant to secure Radio equipment for future radio course training and use in the field at Squadron and Wing exercises. This award is also important as it marks the first of its kind for 134 Squadron to gain this experience amongst the cadets.

Training was delivered by Flt Lt Khalid Murad, Officer Commanding the Squadron and Mr Wiggins lectured the Internet module. Flt Lt Murad said, “Increasing the diversity and breadth of activities on offer at the Squadron is coming into fruition with the award of these badges. I'm sure these badges will sit proudly on the uniforms of the successful cadets. A very well done to all recipients.”
