Going Solo Mk II

Another Air Cadet from 134 (Bedford) Squadron has become the second in the Squadron to successfully achieve solo standard on the Air Cadet Pilot Scheme, two weeks after the first.

Sgt Peter Roberts (19yrs) travelled to Tayside Aviation in Dundee, Scotland, and went Solo after 10hrs 35mins dual flying in the Grob 115D Heron Light Aircraft.

Sgt Roberts said “Throughout my cadet career, I have enjoyed many challenges and achieved a significant number of goals, but achieving the Air Cadet Pilot Wings was the highlight of my time in the Corps.

The reason I joined the Air Cadets was due to my passion for aviation. The training I received throughout my time in the Corps was successfully brought together with my Pilot Air Training, culminating and in my spending a quarter of an hour solo at the controls of a light aircraft, I couldn’t ask for more. I would thoroughly recommend any aviation minded youngster to join the Air Cadets when old enough to do so”
