Cadets and Staff at 134 (Bedford) Squadron are celebrating after winning two awards in the annual Wing Media Communications Competition. The results were announced at the Bedfordshire and Cambridgshire Wing Field Day.

In the photographic competition Sgt Tye won the best photograph in the cadet category. This year, the photo competition required a picture taken by a cadet under the topic of “Adventure Training”. Sgt Tye, who was ready with a camera during a recent training weekend and took a short series of photographs of cadets undertaking a leadership exercise. He chose one of these photos which was titled “Building Bridges” to be put forward into the competition

In another part of the annual competition, Squadrons were asked to design recruitment posters which could be used by the Air Cadet Organisation. The squadron created two posters, one created by staff for the purpose of staff recruiting and the other also designed by Sgt Tye aimed at recruiting new cadets.

The squadron was pleased to discover that the posters were both judged to be good enough to win in their respective parts of the competition.

The winning photo and posters will now represent Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing in the Central and Eastern Region competition in September.

Squadron Media Communications Officer, Mr Chris Wiggins said "I am pleased that Sgt Tye's photo and poster has done so well in this competition, I know he is looking forward to the next round of the competition in the hope that his success can be repeated" he went on to say "The posters are an important tool in recruiting. It would be great if the Air Cadets decide to adopt the posters in a national campaign."
