134 (Bedford) Squadron |
A gold medal and coveted Regional Blue Award for Rugby have been presented to an Air Cadet from 134 (Bedford) Squadron.
Cadet Tom Powell, 15 years, represented the Central and East Region of the Air Cadets at the Air Cadet regional rugby competition held at Royal Air Force Cosford on Saturday 15th March 2008.
Playing as a Winger Cadet Powell and his teammates beat the Wales and West Region 15 –0 and won the overall competition.
Cadet Powell, a keen rugby player worked his way up into the regional team having taken part in the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing trials at the start of the year. Having gained a place in the Wing team he played in the inter wing competition, gaining a Wing Blue Award and subsequently selected into the regional team.
Following the competition, Cadet Powell said “I enjoyed getting my first Regional Blue, it was a really good competition and I was glad to be part of the winning team.”
Warrant Officer Taylor said, “Cadet Powell is commended for all his effort and hard work. Gaining a Regional Blue is a very credible achievement and he joins a growing number of Cadets from the Squadron who excel in the sporting arena.”
