134 (Bedford) Squadron |
Cadets and staff from 134 (Bedford) Squadron, Air Cadets spent the run up to Christmas with a three day fundraising bag pack at the Kempston Branch of Sainsbury's. Between Saturday 22nd December and Monday 24th December cadets were on hand to pack bags for shoppers. The fundraising was to allow the squadron to buy new training equipment as well as to create a moving fund for the Squadron's move to a new headquarters which is expected to take place in 2008.
Once all the buckets of donations were counted, we are pleased to announce that we have smashed both our target and all previous years collections by raising a massive £4600.
As the three days progressed, compliments flooded in from customers, many happy that with the added help of the cadets that speeded up the checkout process and keeping the queues short. The store were also more than pleased with the assistance offered by the cadets and offered the squadron the opportunity to return at Easter for another bag pack.
The squadron would like to thank both Sainsbury's for allowing us to pack bags and to the many kind shoppers who contributed to the collection.
Warrant Officer Taylor who attended the three day bag pack said "The cadets worked exceptionally hard for this three day period. The money raised will help us provide more opportunities for the cadets by providing additional training equipment.
