Four Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron have represented the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing of the Air Training Corps in the inter Wing Cross Country Competition held at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, Lincolnshire.
A crisp, chilly and still morning marked the start of this year’s competition held at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, Lincolnshire, on Sunday 9th December 2008.
Having been selected at the recent Wing Cross Country Competition held at Bassingbourn Barracks on Sunday 18th November, Sergeant Sean Denham, 16 yrs, Sergeant James Tye, 18 yrs, Cadet Tom Powell, 15 yrs and Cadet Jake Riches, 15 yrs, demonstrated the Squadron’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Wing in the sports arena.
The races commenced and saw teams from the six Wings that make up the Central and Eastern Region of the Air Cadets competing against each other over a tough and arduous course close to the historic College Hall building at Cranwell.
At the conclusion of the day Sergeant Denham gained a bronze medal in the Youth Category and was selected to represent the Regional Cross Country Team for the second year running. All four Cadets gained Wing Blues for being in the Wing Team.
Warrant Officer P Taylor who supported the cadets on the day said, “Our guys did a fantastic job and it was great to see so many cadets for our Squadron in the Wing Team. We have a proven track record in supporting the Wing in sports and will continue to do so in the future. Individual praise must go to Sergeant Denham for getting through to the Regional competition and Cadet Powell for gaining his very first Wing Blue.”
