All Hands To The Pumps

It was all hands to the pumps at 134 (Bedford) Squadron when the gates opened for the November Charity Car Washing Day held at the unit’s Shortstown Headquarters.

Leading from the front the Squadron’s Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Mark Robinson, took charge of the pressure washer and assisted the Cadets in washing approximately 74 cars on Saturday 17th November 2007.

The Civilian Committee supported the event in true style, laying on complimentary hot drinks and homemade cakes for customers as they waited for their vehicles to be cleaned to perfection.

Supported by a good number of loyal customers, the Staff and Cadets raised £334, which will be added to the Minibus Fund, now just £800 short of its £26,000 target.

Warrant Officer Taylor said, “Our car washing events are very popular with customers and we receive glowing feedback on the quality of the Cadets’ work. We are finding time and time again that people come back to support us and in many cases recommend us to their friends. This reflects highly on the Squadron and demonstrates the success of working as a team.”

The next car wash is planned for Saturday 8th December 2007, from 9am until 4pm.
