With the arrival of the 21st Century visual media plays an ever more important role for the Air Cadets with more outlets than ever to show the world about this unique organisation. The visual language provides an instant window into this world of 'Venture and Adventure', and it is one that members of 134 (Bedford) Squadron look to make the most of.

The 2007 Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing photographic competition (staff entry) has been scooped with a picture depicting three new recruits standing in front of one of the RAF's bright yellow Sea King rescue helicopters. The photo, by Warrant Officer Oliver Browne, was taken in November 2006 just after an air experience flight for Bedford cadets with B-Flight, 22 Squadron RAF at Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk, and was staged to be used for local level public relations purposes. Commenting on the picture WO Browne said "I wanted to create a photo that told a story, it had to demonstrate that opportunities are open to members of our organisation from the day they join. I was able to get a striking image because of the contrasting colours of the brilliant blue sky, the bright aircraft paint and green uniform. I'd also like to thank the cadets involved for their patience in getting the shot just right".

134 (Bedford) Squadron has provided a number of key images for Headquarters Air Cadets over the past few years, including ex-Cadet Warrant Officer Steven Croft's self portrait which is now the face of the Air Cadet Organisation, also the new CD-ROM version of the air cadet fieldcraft manual features another of WO Browne's pictures as the disc cover image. This years winning photograph will now go forward to represent Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire at the Central and Eastern Region competition to be held at RAF Wittering in September.
