134 (Bedford) Squadron |
With microphones in hand, two teams from 134 (Bedford) Squadron, set to work for the annual Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing Media Communications competition. This year the contest was to create radio recruitment advertisements which could be used by Air Cadet Organisation (ACO).
One advert was to be made by squadron staff who had to make an adult recruiting advert, the second advert, made by cadets for cadets.
The Cadet team, lead by CWO Otulakowski and FS Russell started planning and soon settled on creating an advert revolving around in idea that the ACO there is “no ordinary day”.

For the adult recruitment advert, after a lengthy discussion it was decided that the advert should focus on the wide range of roles within the ACO that are available to staff.
After planning the advert, next came the task of finding suitable sound effects, backing tracks and voices, this was no easy task with enthusiastic discussions about precisely which helicopter to have as a backing sound for the staff advert.
On June 24th the completed adverts were entered into the competition and both were judged to be good enough to win their categories of the Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing Competition. Both adverts have now been passed on to the next stage of the competition which will be at the Central and Eastern Region Field Day on 2ND September.
