Six of the Best

Six Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron are celebrating having successfully passed the highest level of academic training to become Staff Cadets.

The cadets, Sergeant James Tye (18), Corporal Peter Clough (16), Corporal Sean Denham (16), Corporal Adam Smith (16), Cadet Alex McKeegan (16) and Cadet Scott Pickering (16) all sat examinations in March of this year and were recently put through a testing series of interviews with Squadron Leader Tim Brain, the Sector Officer for the West of the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing.

The Cadets were presented with their distinctive yellow Staff Cadet lanyards by the unit’s Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Mark Robinson.

Their abilities will now be put to good use, as they will be able to assist in instructing junior cadets within the unit and ensuring that the highest of standards are maintained.

Squadron Warrant Officer Taylor said, “This is an impressive performance, especially when you take into consideration the fact that 5 of these cadets are in the middle of their GCSEs and they crammed in additional revision to enable them to pass the interviews. Well done to one and all.”
