Sunset Parade

12 Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron, enjoyed a low level display by a Spitfire of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight which provided the perfect start to the Officers Mess cocktail party and sunset parade at the Defence Intelligence and Security Centre, Shefford, Bedfordshire, on Tuesday 5th June 2007.

Every year the Squadron is asked to assist with this high profile evening attended by military and civilian dignitaries from all over the country.

Tasked with route lining, car parking and door opening duties, the cadets worked hard to ensure that the VIP guests were ushered into the Priory Officers Mess, which was founded around 1150 and is one of the oldest and most picturesque locations with the defence estate.

At the conclusion of their duties the cadets were allowed to watch the Minden Band of the Queens Division perform a marching band display and sunset parade.

Warrant Officer Taylor said after the event, “We have all thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the highlights of which were the Spitfire display and Minden Band. The cadets worked hard and were rewarded by being allowed to watch the sunset ceremony and enjoy some excellent military music.”
