Bedford Borough Council has awarded the Squadron £5,000 towards the unit’s efforts to purchase a new minibus to transport the cadets around the country so they can participate in adventure training and educational visits.
This raises the Squadron’s minibus fund to £18,667. The cadets need to raise a further £7,000 so they can purchase a brand new vehicle. It is hoped that the funds will increase further when charity car washing events are held over the next two months.
In a further development, the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation have awarded the squadron £500 towards the purchase of a new computer that will be used by the staff and cadets for preparing presentations and training material and for using e-learning packages.
Adult Warrant Officer Taylor who made the grant applications said, “We are an active Squadron in the local community, striving to provide the very best opportunities to our young people. These grants will make a huge difference to us and I cannot thank Bedford Borough Council and the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation enough for their generosity.”
