Her efforts were soon rewarded when she was informed that she had scored 80 points with 20 rounds of ammunition and had gained her Marksmanship Badge.

Cadet Cook together with 14 other Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron Air Cadets were taking part in the first Squadron shooting day of the New Year held on Saturday 20th January 2007, at the Defence Intelligence & Security Centre Chicksands, Bedfordshire.

Using the L98 A1 Cadet Rifle and No 8 Target Rifle the Cadets spent an enjoyable day on the range practising their weapons handling and live firing skills.

The aim of the day was for the cadets to gain marksmanship qualifications and to prepare for their Easter Camp being held later in the year.

Adult Warrant Officer Taylor, one of the Squadrons two qualified Range Officers said of the day, “All those present worked hard to improve their marksmanship and weapons handling skills and I am really pleased that Cadet Cook gained her Squadron Marksman. Target shooting is a test of skill and ability and she has proven today that she has what it takes.”
