Seaking Fun

For a few individuals each year, the only opportunity they get to fly in a bright yellow Royal Air Force Seaking Search and Rescue helicopter is when they find themselves in peril at sea or on land.

Fortunately for the cadets of 134 (Bedford) Squadron flying with B Flt, 22 Squadron in one of their Seaking helicopters did not require a dramatic rescue.

On Saturday 18th November 2006, 11 cadets and 2 staff from the Squadron visited Wattisham Airfield, Suffolk, where they were shown around a Seaking helicopter, shown a promotional film about the work of the Search and Rescue Force and then treated to a familiarization flight.

Weather conditions were excellent with clear skies and brilliant sunshine. For many of the cadets this was their very first experience of flying in an RAF helicopter.

At the conclusion of the visit Adult Warrant Officer Taylor said, “This has been a tremendous visit and we are fortunate that for many of our cadets this was their first helicopter experience and the conditions were perfect for flying.”
