134 (Bedford) Squadron |
A bright and early start greeted the 134(Bedford) Squadron athletics team as they headed off in a convoy of mini-buses to Cambridge, for the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Air Cadet annual athletics competition.
After an impressive warm up, we soon established our support ground, ‘Bedford Bump’. From this vantage point Bedford cheered on our competing cadets until their lungs had no air left in them. Even with the deteriorating weather conditions, the cadets still cheered on our winning relay team.
Medals were awarded throughout the day and we were quickly in need of an ‘In Field Trophy Cabinet’, the number of medals was going up all the time and the final count was twelve Gold medals, two Silver medals and three Bronze medals.
Although we did not manage to come home with any trophies, the day was very enjoyable, all the cadets were excellent, with all displaying great sportsmanship. This was a day to remember on the 134 Squadron calendar. Flight Sergeant Otulakowski said ‘I am very proud of all the participating cadets, who, with their maturity and determination, exemplified good sporting competition in the Air Training Corps. The fantastic effort put in by everybody was clear, and all the medals were thoroughly well deserved.’
