Pilot Show

On Friday 17th March 2006 FS Antoni Outulakowski travelled to 5 AEF at RAF Wyton, to film an aerial sequence of scenes for a secret publicity project being produced jointly by 134 (Bedford) Squadron Air Cadets and the BBC.

The project which has had the full backing of both Headquarters Air Cadets and OC Central and East Region sees Antoni, 18 years, explaining what it is like to be a cadet in the ATC and what is on offer to those thinking of joining the corps. Taking into account the wide variety of activities that are available from the Air Cadet Organisation FS Otulakowski has been busy getting footage across the board, filming activities from polishing parade shoes to flying and hill walking.

Air Experience flying was identified as a major aspect of operations for the ACO and it was felt that carrying out some in-flight filming would best display this activity. With the assistance of 5 AEF and Grp Capt Ford, Regional Commandant for Central and East Region and a Pilot on the AEF a sortie was planned to allow Antoni to take the recording equipment into the air, showing his audience what it is like to fly a Grob Tutor. With help from the survival equipment fitters at VT Aerospace the microphone was rigged to record from the aircraft intercom system giving a full impression of the flight.

134 (Bedford) Squadrons supernumerary warrant officer, AWO Oliver Browne said “this project is important, not only for us as a unit but also for the corps, this is a chance to gain some valuable PR and I want to express my thanks to all those who have helped us out”. All being well the project should be ready for distribution in about six weeks, more details will be released closer to the time, when it will be announced by the BBC and on the 134 (Bedford) Squadron website www.134.org.uk
