134 (Bedford) Squadron |
Back in October 2005, 134 (Bedford) Squadron received £4000 from the National Lottery Awards for All Scheme to renovate the learning and office spaces. During the month of January 2006, the squadron underwent a series of major changes to its appearance, through a renovation of all of its furniture.
With three rooms to be completely refurbished and all chairs to be replaced, a mammoth task loomed, but as usual was met with great enthusiasm from the staff and certain squadron members.
The Main Classroom
In early January four cadets; Cdt Smith, Cpl Tye, FS Otulakowski, and FS Russell, along with AWO Taylor and AWO Browne, ventured to Milton Keynes Ikea to procure the modern and stylish furniture. New tables, seating, lighting and soft furnishings were acquired for the SNCO room, the Commanding Officer’s office, and general office. AWO Taylor separately purchased thirty executive classroom chairs fitted with desktops, ideal for the cadet’s use.

By February, the entire renovation was complete. The squadron headquarters now resembles a modern and vibrant learning environment and offices befitting a professional organisation. Cadets and staff are confident that these important enhancements to the infrastructure will stand them in good stead for the judging of the Best Maintained Premises Competition.

Squadron Warrant Officer Taylor commented that “I am amazed at what we have been able to achieve on such a limited budget. We now have a fresh, modern teaching environment within which will enhance the skills and knowledge of our young people. This would not have been possible without the much appreciated assistance form the Awards for All Scheme."
