Staff Adventure

On Friday 13th January 2006, Adult Warrant Officer Taylor and Cadet Warrant Officer Steven Croft of 134 (Bedford) Squadron travelled to Windermere in Cumbria to spend a weekend at the Air Cadet Adventure Training Centre.

The weekend organised by Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing was open to all staff within the Wing so they could visit the Adventure Training Centre experience the facilities on offer to Cadets and take part in two-day walks.

On Saturday 14th January, the staff prepared themselves for the first of two fantastic hill walks. Following a circular route the staff navigated themselves to the top of the Pike of Blisco where the view was somewhat limited due to low cloud. However on the return journey the weather cleared allowing some spectacular views of the Langdale Fell.

On Sunday 15th January, the staff set off from Ambleside on a circular route that saw them climb to the top of Wansfell Pike where they had a superb vantage point high above Lake Windermere.

Squadron Warrant Officer Taylor said, “What a fantastic weekend, I’m am really impressed with the Adventure Training Centre and the comfortable and homely atmosphere of the place. As for the day walking well I just can’t wait to come back and walk again. The message to the Cadets is plain and simple, get yourself on a Windermere Camp as soon as possible.”
