Go Go Go

134 (Bedford) Squadron have received the green light to launch two major projects following the announcement that the Awards for All Scheme has granted the unit £5,000 in lottery funding.

The funding will be split between the refurbishment of the Squadron learning environment and the design and build of a two-seat hovercraft.

Much of the Squadrons classroom furniture is over 30 years old and this will now be replaced with modern chairs with desktops, classroom tables and dry wipe boards creating a positive and vibrant learning environment for the cadets.

Secondly funds are now available to launch the construction of a two-seat hovercraft project that will involve the cadets in designing, building and eventually flying a working hovercraft powered by a 500 cc motorcycle engine. This project will be led by Adult Warrant Officer Browne who was responsible for designing and building the Typhoon Soapbox that competed in last years Redbull Soapbox Race at Knebworth, Hertfordshire.

Adult Warrant Officer Taylor, who applied for the funding said, “This is fantastic news and a great boost to our efforts to provide excellent facilities and first class projects to the Cadets of our unit.”
