134 (Bedford) Squadron |
Following on from the massive success of the Squadrons recent Battle of Britain evening, the squadron’s Time Machine was wheeled out again, this time sending 134 cadets back two centuries, for an evening in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
|
The evening was organised by RN Commander Vlad Cirin (Rtd), 134’s very own ancient mariner. The cadets arrived, dressed as 18th century sailors in preparation for the evening’s fancy dress competition. Vlad started the evening with an interactive lesson covering Admiral Nelson and the famous Battle of Trafalgar.
It has been rumoured that Vlad was going to include in his talk, personal recollections and anecdotes from serving with Admiral Nelson but alas this did not materialise on the night.
Following the talk, the fancy dress competition was marked whilst the Cadets walked the plank in front of the assembled judges. The cadets had all worked hard on their costumes. The cadets raised their glasses and gave a traditional toast to Admiral Nelson – “To the immortal memory”.
The evening was concluded with the final battle scenes from the period drama “Master and Commander”.
