Over the weekend of the 8th and 9th October 2005, Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron took part in the Winter Weapons Training Weekend held at the Squadron's Headquarters at Shortstown, Bedford.
Undertaking two full days weapons training delivered by Warrant Officer Taylor, the Squadron's qualified Weapons Instructor, Cadets were taught weapons handling drills with the Number 8 (0.22) and L98 A1 (5.56) cadet rifles.
The weekend concluded with individual weapons handling tests ensuring that each and every cadet was qualified to shoot safely in the future.
Cadets have to undertake intensive training before they can undertake target rifle shooting and are subject to weapons handling tests every six months to ensure that their drills are current and that safety is maintained.
Those cadets that passed there weapons handling test won’t have to wait long to put their new skills to the test as the Squadron will be on the range conducting live firing on the 15th and 29th October 2005.
