134 (Bedford) Squadron |
With the winter training period rapidly approaching a close 134 (Bedford) Squadron has commenced its 2005 outdoor program with the first range session of the year.
Over the last two months cadets already qualified to shoot have been practising and honing their drills on the L98 cadet rifle in the classroom, while some of their newer colleagues have been put through the mandatory 16-hour dry training program. Saturday 26th February saw the first wing shoot at DISC Chicksands of 2005 and provided the opportunity for live firing to take place.
Bedford Sqn sees the practise as part of its work up of this years ‘greens’ exercise season, which includes Easter Camp. The camp will see a number of male and female cadets deploy to the STANTA training ground near Thetford at the beginning of April for a week long activity course designed to expose the cadets to field craft type scenarios.
More shooting practises have been programmed in and around the squadrons’ already busy 2005 schedule in the form of wing and squadron shoots, in addition there will be opportunities at this years camps.
