On Target

The weekend of 12th and 13th February 2005 saw seven cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron complete the mandatory 16-hour training course on the L98 cadet rifle.

Under the instruction of AWO Taylor, a qualified weapons instructor and range conducting officer, the students covered all aspects of safe operation of the weapon as well as primary marksmanship skills. The course culminated in each cadet being put through a 20 minute weapons handling test.

In addition to the seven cadets who took the test for the first time a further 5 cadets who were required to re-qualify on the weapon also took the test. This all boosts the squadron's ability to put cadets forward for the wing and squadron shoots that are programmed for 2005 as well as the requirement for cadets attending Easter camp.

The number of cadets who are now qualified to fire the L98 is the strongest the squadron has seen for the last 3 years and demonstrates 134 (Bedford) Squadron's continuing success.
