Funding Success

In the three days before Christmas, Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron were busy packing bags for shoppers in the Bedford branch of Marks and Spencer to help raise much needed funds to allow the Squadron to run another busy year of activities.

After cadets were given training in the best ways to sort groceries into bags, they keenly went to their stations to pack bags.

Three days and hundreds of bags later, and with thanks to the incredible generosity of the M&S customers the collected money was counted and totalled an impressive £3,500.

One of the key fundraising aims each year for the Squadron is to pay for the running costs of the two Squadron vehicles. Without these, the Cadets would be unable to take part in many of the activities planned for the coming year. It is expected that the money raised this year should cover these costs for both vehicles for another 12 months.

FS James Tye who managed the fund raising event said “Thanks must go not only to the customers, but to the Staff and management team at Bedford M&S for allowing the cadets to fundraise in this way. The squadron has forged strong links with the branch and has worked with the store for a number of years in this way.
