Easter Camp

A contingent of cadets and staff from 134 (Bedford) Squadron have returned from a successful week away, participating in the Annual Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing Easter Camp.

The camp, held on the Stanford Training Area (STANTA), Norfolk, saw 250 cadets from all over the Wing; take part in a week of adventurous activity and leadership skills training.

Bedford Squadron sent 8 cadets to camp, together with Flying Officer Matthew Dolton, who lead the exercise team throughout the week and FS James Tye, who led a staff team focusing on training field craft to the cadets.

All the cadets were able to participate in a huge range of activities whilst at camp. There was an early morning PT session involving a timed log run, orienteering, bridge building, raft building, absailing, field craft and first aid training and a 36 hour overnight field exercise.

When not on exercise, the cadets had to keep their accommodation spic and span for the daily round of room inspections. As the week progressed, all of the flights competed against each other in a series of tasks and competitions to gain the coveted 'Best Flight Award'.

Flying Officer Matt Dolton, said, "Overall our week away has been a tremendous success for our Squadron. We brought one of the largest contingents of cadets from any single unit, two key staff positions were filled by members of our staff team. A thoroughly enjoyable week was had by all."
