Following a series of successful sports trials, 8 cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron have been selected to represent the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing of the Air Training Corps in Football, Rugby and Netball.
In total, 11 cadets from the Squadron attended Royal Air Force Brampton, Cambridgeshire, on Sunday 17th January 2010, to take part in trials for the Junior Boys Rugby and Senior Boys Soccer teams and compete in the Junior Girls Netball Competition.
Fortunately the weather conditions were perfect and the trails, which had previously been delayed by the snow, took place without interruption.

Having given a good account of themselves on the rugby pitch, the following cadets were selected for the Wing Junior Rugby Team, Cpl Jonathan Bell, 14 years, Cpl Wesley Bradley, 14 yrs and Cdt Akash Bhagran, 15 yrs. They will go on to represent the Wing at the Inter Wing Rugby competition being held at RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire, on Sunday 31st January 2010.
Chosen to represent the Wing in the Wing Senior Soccer Team were Sgt Nicholas Every, 16 yrs and Cpl Peter Roberts (reserve). The Inter Wing Soccer competition will be held at RAF Cottesmore, Rutland, on Sunday 7th March 2010.
In the gymnasium, the Squadron’s Junior Girls Team secured third place and were awarded bronze medals for their efforts. Cpl Tiffany Cotton, 14 yrs, and Cdt Amy Spencer, 14 yrs and Cdt Daniele Pickering, 13 yrs, (non travelling reserve) were selected for the Wing Junior Netball Team. They will go on to represent the Wing at the Inter Wing Junior Girls Netball competition being held at RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire, on Sunday 31st January 2010.
Warrant Officer Paul Taylor said, “We are delighted with the results. We took 11 cadets to the trials and 8 of them were selected. This is a true reflection on the commitment and abilities of our cadets and demonstrates that as a Squadron we are determined to support the Wing in as many sporting events as possible. I am also impressed that Cpls Bell and Bradley will be gaining their first Wing Blues as this means that every member of the Squadron NCO team now holds at least one Wing Blue Award.”
