Wheelie Clean

Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron have collected over £600 having recently spent two Saturdays washing over 130 cars at their annual Autoglym Charity Car Wash.

Working in teams staffing individual wash bays, the cadets, armed with the best cleaning products available, set about washing to perfection customers vehicles.

Each team, commanded by a Corporal, was responsible for ensuring that each and every vehicle left the Squadron gleaming. Providing excellent customer service is vital as it has been identified by the Squadron that just over half of the car wash customers are attracted back time and time again.

This December there were some unusual visitors to the car wash. The cadets were required to wash a Police armed response vehicle, under the watchful eye of its occupants, and the Heart FM radio car together with crew who came to see what was going on.

Squadron Warrant Officer Paul Taylor said, “The whole Squadron works as a well oiled team when it comes to organising car washing events. Our cadets work hard; the NCO’S manage the teams and the Officers and Civilian Committee feed, water and liaise with the customers. We have, with the support of the public, raised a significant amount of money to boost our funds for 2010”
