Runaway Success
Despite some challenging weather conditions, Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron have successfully retained two Cross Country Trophies, having taken part in the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing Cross Country Competition.
Held at Bassingbourn Barracks, Cambridgeshire, on Sunday 22nd November 2009, the Squadron competed against teams from 23 other Squadrons from across the Wing for a series of trophies and individual medals.
Having commenced their training back in September, the cadets performed magnificently and successfully retained for the 8th year in a row the Junior Boys Trophy, and for the 6th year in a row the Youth Boys Trophy. The Junior Girls Team achieved a credible 2nd place in their event.
The day finished with the presentation of awards which saw the unit return to Bedford with an impressive haul, 2 trophies, eight gold medals, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medals.
Corporal Nicolas Every, 16 yrs, and Cadets Tiffany Cotton, 14 yrs, and Daniel O’Neal 14 yrs, will now go forward to represent the Wing at the Inter Wing (Region) Cross Country Competition which will take place at Royal Air Force Cranwell, Lincolnshire, on Sunday 6th December 2009.
Warrant Officer Paul Taylor said, “Our team, as ever, was outstanding and to retain the Junior and Youth Boys trophies yet again shows that our training and ethos is sound. Yet again we see the Squadron sending cadets forward to represent the Wing and I congratulate Cadet O’Neal who will gain his very first Wing Blue on the 6th December” Bookmark this page with: Del.icio.us | Digg | Reddit | Facebook | StumbleUpon
