We Do Remember Them

Remembrance Sunday was marked in traditional style by the cadets and staff of 134 (Bedford) Squadron, when they paraded at the war memorial on the Embankment at Bedford.

Parading alongside Veterans, the Territorial Army, members of the Cadet Forces and other youth and volunteer organisations, the Squadron paid its respects to the war dead in the annual Act of Remembrance, organised by the Royal British Legion.

This year the unit’s banner was carried by Cadet Sergeant Ryan Sharples, 15 years. Corporals Lindsey Cook, 17 years and Nicolas Every, 16 years together with Cadet Akash Bhagran, 15 years, completed the Banner Party; Cadet Daniel O’Neal, 14 years, laid the Air Training Corps wreath on behalf of the Squadron.

With 29 cadets on parade the Squadron was well represented and many favourable comments were received about their standard of dress, deportment and behaviour.

Following the parade, a number of cadets visited Cardington village graveyard to place remembrance crosses on the war graves, a tradition which the cadets of the Squadron have observed for a number of years.

Flying Officer Paul Nelson, the Squadron’s Commanding Officer said ”I was delighted that so many of the cadets turned out to pay their respects to the dead of past and present conflicts. I was immensely proud of them on this my first Remembrance Day Parade. They were a credit both to themselves and to the Corps in general.”
