On Sunday 29th April 2012, twenty one Air Cadets from 134 (Bedford) Squadron competed in the annual Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing Athletics Competition, held this year at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium. Twenty nine squadrons from across the Wing attended; this meant that every event was going to be hotly contested. Last year the team achieved a respectable haul of medals and the team was determined to return with more medals and silverware this year.

The Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course is the ultimate leadership course within the Air Cadet Organisation and is certainly not for the faint-hearted. For one Cadet, Flight Sergeant Ryan Sharples (18 yrs) from 134 (Bedford) Squadron, the course has been a major success. Having successfully completed the course he was crowned Top Student and awarded a scholarship to Kenya.

On the rare occasions that Air Cadets get the chance to fly in operational Royal Air Force Aircraft, it is normally part of a pre planned training sortie. It is therefore highly unusual for a cadet to be given the opportunity to experience an operational flight in a helicopter. But for one lucky cadet from 134 (Bedford) Squadron, this was the order of the day when he was fortunate enough to fly with 32 (The Royal) Squadron in an Augusta 109 helicopter.
